After several weeks of Deconstructing to Reconstruct, we’re thrilled to have offically broken ground on the Breathe Building. Don Burke Excavation & Construction (DBEC) began working this week and they're making good progress. They are now excavating the area under the North Building for our basement.
It looks like we’ll be removing about a dozen truckloads of soil. Luckily, DBEC has agreed to haul the soil wherever we’d like them to within the area. Our soils tests indicated that the soil is clean, so we’ve put an ad on Craigslist, offering it available for free. (If you’d like some, check out our post and get in touch!) It’s springtime now and people are making plans for their landscaping. We figure there may be folks out there looking for free fill dirt and we could find a mutually beneficial arrangement.
Speaking of breaking ground, we plan to host an official Breathe Building Ground Breaking Celebration on Earth Day (April 22, 2014). Please plan to join us if you’re able!
